hi, i'm savannah (last name: sometimes ostrowski, sometimes bailey; both are fine by me). i'm a software engineer at fastapi labs, where i work on infrastructure, observability, and reliability for fastapi cloud. previously, i worked on developer platforms at microsoft, docker, and snowflake.
in open source, i'm a python core developer, the release manager for python 3.16 and 3.17, and a member of the python steering council for 2026. i maintain parts of cpython, including the jit compiler and argparse. i was also the inaugural board treasurer for project jupyter.
i'm proudly canadian and have been based in washington state since 2016. outside of work, i watch a lot of movies, am training for a half marathon later this year, and like being at home with my three cats (nori, miso, and momo). i write here when i can, about things i'm building or thinking about.
